What is more pleasant than this inspiring promise from the Bible? God will never leave you or forsake you. Walk right with Him in patience and surely you will see His glory in your life. He doesn’t fail.
We find many promises of God when we read our Bibles. They are promises of protection, victory, success, happiness, salvation, and all the good things you could ever imagine as a Christian. The Bible says God will never leave you or forsake you. This is a praiseworthy assurance that should inspire every child of God. He never fails to deliver at the right time.
I have heard many fellow believers complain about whether God is with them or not. It’s quite hard to understand God’s way of helping his children. Your finite mind can’t fathom everything. Just trust him. Take a look at the verse below:
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.” (Psalms 34:19)
This verse should appease your weary soul and cleanse your mind from any doubt or fear. You wouldn’t be alive today if God hasn’t been gracious to you.
In this article, I would like to remind you of one of the many promises God made to the Israelites but still relevant in our modern age. Jesus Christ gave us the same assurance during his ministry on earth. God is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore.
Look, you can’t rely on a man and feel secured. You can’t rely on the wisdom of man, money, wealth, charms, etc, and think everything is secure for you. Who knows tomorrow? Only God can assure you of a brighter future or tomorrow.
He has your back, no matter the situation you find yourself in. Even if everyone abandons you, God will never leave you.
Most of our problems come as a result of failing to walk in the spirit and being obedient to our Lord.
He never said “give up on him” if you are overwhelmed by certain problems. Oh my friend, where is your faith? God said this to Joshua:
“No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not fail you nor forsake you.” (Joshua 1:5)
Yes, he was with Moses, Joshua, and many others. God never failed any of them. Even Samson, upon all his disobedience, God listened to his last request for strength. Jonah likewise had God’s favor while in a very uncomfortable situation.
Why He Promised To Be With Joshua
Let’s learn something inspiring from the faithfulness of God towards the Israelites.
As they journeyed to the promised land, they realized that the land (Canaan) was occupied by their enemies. These enemies were people of different tribal groups of which most of them were Hittites and Amorites.
This means the Israelites will not possess the land without a fight. Although God has promised to give them this very land that flows with milk and honey. So why then should they fight for what has been prepared for them?
This situation of the Israelites is the same thing many Christians are facing today. Though God is with you, the enemy will rise…, you will face many problems.
But remember this; you are not exempted from pains and suffering. So eat that humble pie and seek the face of God. He will bless and exalt you in the presence of your adversaries.
Yes, He will prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies. Your loyalty to God is very important — no matter what.
Let God be your hope and strength. As the leader of the Israelites, Joshua needed some encouragement and wisdom to overcome the enemy. Although he was having the assurance of God’s help. All he could do is trust God. This takes genuine faith to claim what the Lord has prepared for you. God then told Joshua:
“… I will not fail you nor forsake you.”
God is perfect in everything. Trusting him unconditionally is the gem Christian needs.
God Is With You
Have you heard about the story of the young man whose love spell failed him? Let me give you a quick account of his embarrassing situation.
He fell in love with a girl. His lust for her was insane and there seems to be no normal way of winning her heart.
This young chap then consulted a magician for a “love spell.”
With much confidence, he stood on the girl’s way home and started his incantation plus other gimmicks to change the girl’s mind.
As the girl approaches he did his last chant by shaking a white handkerchief 3 times mentioning her name in each process.
Thinking everything has worked out; he tried to lead the girl to his house with a bunch of sugarcoated words… “Hello, sweetheart…”
The Lady stood there in shock. As the guy tried to hold her with affection received a big slap! Ah ah… He said to himself “eish the spell did not work?.”
Feeling embarrassed and disappointed by the spell, he backed off like a dog. His satanic powers failed him.
Moral lesson: Satan is a liar, crafty and powerless against the children of God. To rely on Satan and his agents like spirit mediums is an abomination unto the Lord. Besides, it will never end well with you even if it works out for you today.
Waiting on God and enduring the pang of pains of the stings of the enemy isn’t a joke. It takes a real man to stand still and trust in the Lord for help. Only those who endure to the end can fly like the eagle.
By faith, we know that the Lord is ever-present in all our endeavors to be free from pains and suffering. It is very normal for every human to face life challenges. It could be financial constraints, health problems, fear, loneliness, marital problems, misfortunes, death anxiety, etc.
Despite the pains you go through, God’s love and grace are sufficient to relieve us. It is through your weaknesses or sufferings that God will glorify himself through you.
“Even if my father and mother abandoned me, the LORD would take me in.” (Psalms 27:10)
His promise to everyone who believes in him is never to abandon you. God will never leave you or forsake you. The Psalmist showed his confidence in the Lord that he is not giving up even if his very parent abandoned him.
We serve a God who takes care of the needy: orphans, widows, the poor, those under oppression, the homeless, and even the birds in the sky.
Trustworthy Is The Lord – “I Will Never Leave You.”
Our Lord has a proven track record of being a trustworthy person. From the ancient days, he has been active in the walks of those who fear him. He is faithful and will surely fulfill all his promises to you.
If you are in the sheepfold, then there is no need to be anxious about anything as the Bible has declared. But in everything, pray and submit yourself to the Lord. Trust his timing and never feel abandoned.
The book of 2 Chronicles 16:9 says the eyes of God are continually roaming throughout the earth to give the needed strength to anyone whose hearts are fully committed to Him. God still looks at the heart to bless, redeem and protect.
Consider the story of these people:
1. Abraham And Sarah: The shame of barrenness and childless life came to an end after God’s promise.
2. Shadrach, Meshach, And Abednego: Delivered from the flames of fire.
3. Daniel: Delivered from the jaws of hungry lions.
4. Job: Restoration of everything the devil destroyed in his life.
5. Jacob: A Promise to bless and multiply his descendants came into effect.
6. David: God chose him as the King of Israel, despite his young age and appearance.
Did God fail any of his servants? Never. What happened to the 450 priests of Baal? Baal failed them when they called out for help from morning to Evening (1 Kings 18:26). But the God of Elijah responded by fire to prove his power and dominion over everything.
There are many more Biblical characters who received God’s promise of deliverance, protection, and blessings. He fulfills his promises to the latter.
The problem of you failing to understand God or see his glory might be your doubtful mind. Can’t you have a little faith like a mustard seed and keep calm in that stormy sea. As long as the Lord is in the vessel, the storm will cease.
Jesus Will Never Fail You
Our Savior Christ Jesus never left us, orphans. He sent out the Comforter being the Holy Spirit to strengthen us, guide, protect and lead us to all spiritual truths.
A real good friend is Jesus Christ. He loves us that is why he chose to die for our own betterment.
Mankind may fail to help you even upon making a solemn promise to you. Humans are fallible, gods and evil forces are not reliable, weapons of man can’t be trusted for victory.
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we trust the name of the LORD our God.” (Psalms 20:7)
Bible Verses To understand Why God Will Never Leave You Or Forsake You
I believe you still need more assurance of God’s love, kindness, and future plans for you. These Bible verses on why God will never leave you will inspire you to keep on confiding in him alone.
1. “Teaching them to obey all things that I commanded you. And look, I am with you every day, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)
2. “Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)
3. “He commissioned Joshua the son of Nun, and said, “Be strong and courageous; for you shall bring the people of Israel into the land which I swore to them: and I will be with you.” (Deuteronomy 31:23)
4. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and the flame will not scorch you. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I have given Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia, and Seba in your place. Since you have been precious and honored in my sight, and I have loved you; therefore I will give people in your place, and nations instead of your life. Do not be afraid; for I am with you. I will bring your descendants from the east, and gather you from the west.” (Isaiah 43:2 – 5)
5. “For I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many people in this city.” (Acts 18:10).
6. “No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37)
In summation
The creator of the Universe is omnipotent. He is perfect in everything. This God of heaven and earth has never failed to fulfill his promise.
The promise in this context is: God will never leave you or forsake you. Believe this and never give up irrespective of your circumstances.
Sometimes God’s discipline on the Israelites felt like he has abandoned them. But he never abandoned them. His righteous judgment comes in to correct our disobedience or sins. He is a loving Father who will not spare the rod. Obedience has its own rewards in the sight of God.
If you ever trust him unconditionally, then at the right time, you will see his glory in your life. Don’t be anxious or let depression compel you to lose your faith in him.
Rejoice, even if you go through the turbulence of life. Because God is ever-present to help. Long-suffering is part of our walks with Christ Jesus.
