The ultimate goal of almost everyone is to derive appreciable happiness, freedom, wealth and health from his/her daily endeavors. All these require time, hard work and sacrifices.
Today, one of the most powerful advice you could have is “don’t waste your life.” on unimportant things. Here we are on a planet hosting 7 Billion people. Many people have come and gone, generations have risen and fallen, civilization has changed from time to time. In all, everything that has a beginning has an end.
Kindly allow me space to share with you some insightful reasons why you shouldn’t waste your life on this planet. I mean don’t waste your life on unimportant things. If you are spending too much of your time on unproductive things, it means you are wasting your life.
If you spend too much of your energy on unimportant things then obviously you are wasting your life. Finally, anyone who wastes his TIME on things that yield nothing is wasting his life. It’s not something to be joked with.
I remember hearing a particular life coach say; If you spend 100 years on earth without making any positive impact on life and in people’s lives, it means you are a wastage. On the other hand, if you live for a few years, say 15 and leave a good legacy behind it is far better. You have made an impact.
The main attention here is drawn on “TIME FACTOR.” Ask yourself a couple of questions about your purpose in life, your abilities and what you intend to do now and tomorrow.
What Are The Things People Do To Waste Their Lives?
Perhaps you are doing something that is helping you waste your life but you haven’t noticed it. The wisest man ever to live(King Solomon) has a special advice for our youth today. His desire to fulfill his needs proved useless aftermath. Out of his experience, he has said, don’t waste your life on unimportant things. You may enjoy the fruits of your labor because you deserve it. You spent part of your life working for it.
“I have concluded that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to enjoy themselves as long as they live, and also that everyone should eat and drink, and find enjoyment in all his toil, for these things are a gift from God.” ( Ecclesiastics 3:12-13)
Each and every one of us would love to have peace, happiness and a better living. It is a working process. It is about how you use your life profitably.
Just like how Science has estimated that the average person living today spends 1/3 of his life sleeping. That is if he sleeps 8 hours a day
Sleep is a medicine which is very good for the body and mind. Without wasting the 2/3 of your life what should you do?. Before I talk about that, let’s consider some of the things people do to waste their precious lives on earth.
Useless Things People Do – Don’t Waste Your Life
1. Worrying
It’s quite unfortunate people are so weak that they can’t get over anxieties, pains, and misfortunes. Why would you spend several days, weeks and months crying over spilled milk?.
Encountering life challenges are very normal. One day you will lose a loved one, one day you will feel disappointed… All these misfortunes should be handled with courage. No amount of tears can change the past. My dear, don’t waste your life sobbing. Let bygones be bygones.
2. Too Many Expectations
Do you know it is a hurtful experience of you to expect too much from someone when it fails?. Yes, it does. “I will buy you a car”, “I will give you $$$”… He promises and you spent the whole day, weeks, months waiting and hoping to get what you have been promised.
You would be a big fool if you sit there, put your hands in your lap waiting to receive as promised. What if the person fails to fulfill his promise?.
Here you would be very angry with the person who has helped you waste part of your life. A life that could have been beneficial in something else. If you fall into this category, don’t forget to read my articles on why you should not trust anyone and why you should never make a promise.
3. Wrong Choices
I once published an article on how to make good choices in life. Imagine someone who chose a lover and spent 3 years dating thinking it will end up in marriage but a painful breakup set them apart.
♦. You have to spend part of your precious life to heal your pains.
♦. You have to spend time searching for a new love.
What if your new love also proves futile after a couple of years?. Oh my God!. Can you bear the pains?…
Your life is precious so be very careful when you are making choices. Whether it is a marriage partner or items in the market: Step in for quality over quantity. Go in for someone who truly loves you. Let me help you a little to find out if you are in a genuine relationship or not. Read this; “How to know if you are in a fake relationship.”
Don’t waste your life and if you have already wasted part of it… cease fire! I have been in love with this Native American Proverb for long because it sends a very powerful and heart-touching message about life:
“Every time you wake up ask yourself “what good things am I going to do today?.” Remember that when the sun goes down at sunset, it will take a part of your life with it.”
—Native American Proverb
The best remedy for a useless life is a positive change. If anyone tells you “don’t waste your life” he expects you to be time conscious. Time is money and there is no doubt about that.
Adapt change if you are living a useless life. Discipline yourself to turn on a new leaf. Make every second count and you would be proud for not wasting any part of your life on anything unproductive.
Expert believe we spend more time on the things we love most. Check them out. Are those things producing profits for your time investments?. Every second and every minute counts.
Just as we know, time is a nonrenewable resource so be vigilant how you spend your time. Your life on earth is limited. Don’t waste your life on anything that doesn’t produce a positive result.
