We all need knowledge to live a happy life. Wisdom from above surpasses of man. God calls earthly wisdom “foolishness”. Be wise in the Lord and success and happiness will be yours always.
Wisdom From Above is precious than gold and jewelry. The Bible makes it clear that God used wisdom to create the universe. To state and make it simple, it emanates from God; He is the source of it, and anyone who requests for it would have it through faith.
What is sweeter than having the wisdom to discern the most complex situations in life?. God does not only give wisdom but understanding and how to be proficient in life. He also gives talents and spiritual gifts. All these glorifies his magnificent name.
Wisdom is precious than gold and riches. Wisdom from above is backed by the Holy Spirit which makes it surpass any earthly wisdom. Can you afford to own it? Yes, you can. Because the giver gives it out for free. Just pray and have faith in the Lord you shall have it.
What Is Wisdom?
Before I continue, let us find the meaning of wisdom. This definition is for English Language Learners. I chose that because it is very simple for everyone to understand:
“knowledge that is gained by having many experiences in life”
“the natural ability to understand things that most other people cannot understand.”
Now, according to the bible wisdom is the fear of the Lord.
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding”(Proverbs 9:10)
The fear of the Lord is not about getting frightened by him. God is not horrible to scare the hell out of you. To fear the Lord is to love him with all your heart, soul, and body. It is about pursuing holiness and obeying his commandments. God is a loving and caring person. He hates people who are disobedient to him.
God’s wisdom And Earthly Wisdom In Reference To The Bible
Wisdom from above surpasses knowledge gotten from life experience or lecture halls. We understand experience is the best teacher but wisdom from above is far more valuable than life or human experience.
There are people who overly trust in their own instincts. They believe they are capable of discerning things happening around them without any external influence.
Some like a free spirit would say he doesn’t need the directives of God because he can take very good care of his thoughts and decisions.
This is against what the Bible says as “do not rely on your own understanding.” Sometimes, we would need the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom and spiritual understanding to deal with certain problems in our lives. So in all our ways, we must acknowledge God.
In fact, if we compare wisdom from above to that of man; We can conclude that earthly wisdom is useless.
“For the wisdom of this age is foolishness with God. As it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness.”(1 Corinthians 3:19).
God gives knowledge free of charge to those who ask and deserve it. You have to prepare yourself for such kind of special gift.
God’s wisdom is different from earthly wisdom. Therefore Christians are encouraged to seek it wholeheartedly from the Lord.
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and not hypocritical.”(James 3:17).
If you are a kind of lazy person how can you get wisdom?. The Bible says you should go to the ant and learn her ways, you sluggard.
God is the giver of wisdom. He is ‘wisdom’ himself. Ask and he will give you wisdom from above. King Solomon asked for wisdom and God gave it to him making him the wisest person ever to live on earth till the coming of Christ in the New Testament.
If you want to know about the amazing life of King Solomon and his legacy on earth; Read my article on “Who was King Solomon“.
“But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind“(James 1:5-6).
In conclusion, JESUS CHRIST is the true source of wisdom. He grew in wisdom, taught wisdom, and gave it to his disciples (Luke 21:15).
In his Childhood, he belittled the elders in the Synagogue with his perfect knowledge about all creations.
“Then he came to his hometown and began to teach the people in their synagogue. They were astonished and said, “Where did this man get such wisdom and miraculous powers? “(Matthew 13:54).
Seek for Christ Jesus today, ask him to give you the wisdom to:
- live a happy life
- work hard to become successful
- solve complicated problems in your life, marriage, school, etc.
- help people who are in need
Christians who obey God’s word are his true sons. He will give you wisdom if you ask for it. Let your faith count.
