How much does it cost to buy your freedom from the devil? Jesus came to set the captives free. And the Bible says where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. You’ve been set free already. Claim your victory in faith now!
The Lord presides over the heavenly court ruling with a scepter of righteousness. Also, the devil with his crafty schemes has imprisoned a lot of people. He has taken them captive and blindfolded them from the truth. It is the blood of Jesus that has made us conquerors over the rulers of darkness. And today the Holy Spirit is driving out every darkness shadowing the lives of Christians. The Bible says where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. God through His Son Christ Jesus has set us free from:
• Sin
• Demonic powers and rulers
• The law
You are free from sin that leads to eternal death, free from the rulers of darkness and all other Satanic powers. Again, you are no more subjected to the law that gives an instant death sentence.
Freedom comes at a price. And we being sinners and defaulters of the law, the grace and mercy of God have made us righteous and worthy of His Kingdom. Indeed, anyone who comes to Jesus is no more a slave to sin.
The accuser of the brethren also known as Lucifer is on a rampage with his cuffs looking for people to imprison. Sadly he has succeeded in keeping and enslaving innumerable souls in his cells.
The good news here is that Jesus has purchased our freedom with his blood. The scriptures on several occasions have made it clear that God has set us free from condemnation and so anyone who truly becomes a born-again Christian has the Spirit of the Lord residing in him. This is the same Spirit who gives us freedom.
“There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)
When we continue with verse two it says:
“For the law of the life-giving Spirit in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:2)
So now you must rejoice as a child of God because you are truly free from the power of sin and of the devil who is the cause of all our suffering.
There are different kinds of spirits in our world and beyond but none sets us free from the power of sin and death. It is only the Spirit of God who gives us true freedom that leads to eternal life through Jesus our Savior.
What Is The Meaning Of Where The Spirit Of God Is There Is Freedom?
The word το πνευμα, spirit, evidently represents the Gospel which is God-breathed. The meaning throws light on spiritual life and the law (old covenant). This goes a long way to produce strong spiritual effects on people who accept the Gospel.
And where the Spirit of the Lord is means wherever the Word of God is welcomed, the Holy Spirit is given. For instance, during church services and other religious gatherings; Christians call on the Holy Spirit and He comes to dwell within them —hence giving them a sense of freedom, joy and peace.
In furtherance wherever that Spirit lives and works, there is freedom or liberty from the law that put the Jews in bondage. This freedom also takes us away from the slavery of sin, its power, guilt, and pollution.
“Jesus answered them, “I tell you the solemn truth, everyone who practices sin is a slave of sin. The slave does not remain in the family forever, but the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be really free.” (John 8:33 – 36)
Again, the book of 2 Corinthians, teaches us about the veils that covered the hearts of the Israelites just like how Moses covered his face with a veil when the law (Old Covenant) is being read. This law brought death because the people were unable to keep it. But now the blood of Jesus has set us free from the law and the penalty of sin.
The Advocate, who is the Holy Spirit has removed the veil from the hearts of believers through the power of Christ Jesus. In this respect, the glory of the Lord manifests through all believers.
There is no condemnation for anyone who comes to Christ Jesus; Because he has ransomed us with his blood.
Taking Lessons From Our Daily Christian Life
When a Christian decides to follow Jesus he automatically becomes free from sin, the binding law, and the rulers of darkness. This is a tremendous freedom that must be taken with love and gratefulness.
If you look at the world today, you can see that the devil has taken a lot of people captive. They are not free from the powers of darkness. This is because such people lack the Spirit of the Lord that supersedes all spirits or forces in heaven, on earth and in other realms.
Most of the sufferings we can see today are because —a lot of world leaders, fathers, mothers, teachers, friends, etc, haven’t been set free by the Spirit of God. Why? Because they do not know Christ Jesus in whose name all knees bow (Philippians 2:10).
The Scriptures have forewarned us that there is spiritual warfare that is constantly happening. This battle isn’t fought with human weapons but with the Word of God.
In Ephesians 6, it is stated that we should put on the full armor of God and within the list, we can see what is called the “Sword of the Spirit.”
There is no need for born-again Christians to be afraid of the schemes of the devil because Jesus has already won the battle and given us authority over all other powers (Luke 10:19).
It is, therefore, up to every individual Christian to acclaim this victory and freedom through the power of Jesus Christ.
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is present, there is freedom.” (2 Corinthians 3:17)
This kind of freedom covers all facets of life. Think about these: health, finances, marriage, job, businesses, etc, In faith, you must speak the Word over your life and reclaim any areas that the devil has stolen or rules over.

3. “For the law of the life-giving Spirit in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:2 )

Jesus, through his blood, power and the Spirit of God has given us absolute freedom from sin, principalities and all powers of darkness. You are no more in bondage. This is true and praiseworthy.
If anyone feels enslaved today, it is time to call on the name of Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you because you are the temple of God. And when you truly believe in Jesus and allow the Spirit of God to reside in you —nothing can separate us from the love, care and protection of the Lord.
