Being A Productive Believer In Christ Jesus

Jesus Christ gave a perfect scenario of how productive believers should be in life in wait for his second coming.

“For it is like a man, going on a journey, who called his own servants, and entrusted his goods to them.

To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his own ability. Then he went on his journey.

Immediately d the one who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.

In like manner, he who got the two gained another two.

But he who received the one went away and dug in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.

“Now after a long time, the lord of those servants came and reconciled accounts with them.

And he who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents. See, I have gained another five talents.’f

“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

“And he also who had the two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents. See, I have gained another two talents.’

“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

“He also who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter.

I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth. See, you have what is yours.’

“But his lord answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter.

You ought, therefore, to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming, I should have received back my own with interest.

Take away, therefore, the talent from him, and give it to him who has the ten talents.

For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have abundance, but from him who does not have, even that which he has will be taken away.” (Matthew 25:14 – 29)

A Thoughtful Approach On The Above Scriptures On Finances

Although these scriptures on finances happen to be a parable about the second coming of our savior; it teaches us valuable lessons about how to do proper investment in life. Charity begins at home so you need to scale your value first. Do you worth it?.

Lending Money To Friends And The Needy

Talking about scriptures on finances, I feel compelled to draw the attention of all Christians to their lending abilities.

At times, a friend would call on us “Hey bro I need you to help me with this amount of money…“, “I need you to lend me your Jacket, shoes, book, jewelry etc. As God-fearing Christians, I believe you will offer some help. Well done.

But there is a serious string attached to this kind of benevolence. An advice, listen attentively; If you know you can’t forfeit what you are lending should if you don’t get it back, then it is not necessary to lend at all.

The moment you lend a fellow friend something he needs, you must presume that thing is lost. If the person returns it, then count it as a bonus.

The Bible clarifies this in the books of Exodus and Psalms.

“If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be to him as a creditor; neither shall you charge him interest.” (Exodus 22:25)

“He doesn’t lend out his money for interest, nor take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be shaken.” ( Psalms 15:5)

The LORD will make you the head, and not the tail, and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath; if you shall listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day, to observe and to do.” (Deuteronomy 28: 11 – 13)
