As a mere human being— you must always acknowledge the simple fact that; you have weaknesses that would occasionally require the help of someone to patch it for you. But failure to ask for help would put your life at serious risk.
When your chin is falling apart you ask for help and exercise patience for the person coming to treat and bandage it for you. Out of prudence and impatience, you don’t say “if you don’t attend to me early I will leave it to fall.” When there is a fire outbreak we call for the appropriate helper(firefighters). Life will always rain innumerable challenges on you. And each challenge will require your solution alone or that of someone else.
Don’t you think it is time to ask for help?. The struggles in life seem to be an unending journey. Each day we are bombarded with different demons. Do you think you can always handle everything alone?
Even the strongest man sometimes calls for help. If you do not ask—how can you get what you need? —you don’t have what someone else is having. Ask! Hope you understand what I mean. Good! When the need arises don’t feel shy. Call for help.
Start Taking The Right Steps
Today, I want to draw your attention to some of the most important reasons why you must ask for help when the need arises. To ask for help does not mean you are fragile, incompetent, or lazy. It simply means you are self-disciplined, mature and courageous enough to know your limitations because you are a mere human with a bunch of weaknesses.
It is a dangerous thing if you ever fail to know when to ask for help and when to keep going. As you read along you will find out about a couple of things that prevents people from calling for help even if they are in near death situations. There are a couple of misconceptions that have been programmed into the minds of people.
If your fishing net catches a large amount of fish call on me and I will help you pull them in. If your net gets torn— I can help you mend. We are all fishermen and so need each other’s support. This is what makes our world a beautiful place.
Imperfection is human nature. It is only God who does not need help. If your fears or ego is blinding you from reaching out to people who can help you achieve your goals then you are sabotaging your own happiness and success.
There is a saying that two heads are better than one. And as far as knowledge is not accustomed to one person— then surely you must ask the one who can help you finish what you have started or thought of.
In all, there is nothing that can convince me to believe that asking for help is a sign of weakness, unintelligence or failure. Consider the following things causing people to shy away from trading their sorrows and pains:
1. Ego
2. Shyness
3. Self-conceitedness
4. Arrogance
5. Fear
6. Overambitious
7. Trust issues
I believe there are more to this. But for the sake of this article — let’s handle the commonest reasons why people find it hard to ask for help. On the other hand— there are those of us who ask for help without hesitation. Why?. Because procrastination is a thief of time.
When To Ask For Help
Honestly, it is not always necessary to ask for help. Oh yes!. The Bible has even said, “there is time for everything.” It is only the lazy who always finds excuses to justify his unproductive life. “I Can’t—Do it”, “Do it for me.” is the hallmark. You don’t need to be fed always. One or two is enough. I mean don’t make “relying on others” habitual.
When life becomes so hard for you to crack— ask for a bigger harmer from a friend. You would agree with me that there are friends who are like brothers. They always got your back.
Often we hear the phrase “never give up.” Well, that is true. But sometimes you have to give up. It doesn’t sound good to you right???. Then read my article about why giving up sometimes is a praiseworthy idea.
You have everything you need to live a happy life. But sometimes what you have wouldn’t be enough to blow off the mountain that will appear on your way.
You will need a bigger explosive weapon from someone else. Ask for help when it is most appropriate. Even if nobody seems not to help— keep on asking till you meet the right person willing to support your dreams and all your efforts to breakthrough.
Ask for help when your:
♦. Finances are insufficient to cover up your school fees, business expenses, and other bills. You can borrow from a friend or possibly attract a reasonable amount of loan from the ban.
♦. Strength and energy become exhausted. It’s like running marathon. If the distance is too long you will surely feel tired. You can’t allow your ego to drive you out of your lane or position to get a bottle of water. Ask!.
Those spectators will provide you with as many bottles of water you can drink. Hopefully, some of them are your die-hard fans. They are ready to help you achieve your goals.
Why You Must Ask For Help
Put that shyness, egotism, fear, and pessimism away. Be bold, step forward and ask someone to help you achieve your dreams. It’s obvious, no one is 100% sufficient in life.
This points to the fact that every human being has his/her own weaknesses. By embracing your weakness you get rid of egotism and shyness.
If you know it — someone knows it better than you. So a time will come that you would have to acknowledge your limitations and ask for help. It doesn’t matter if that person is your junior in school or at the workplace. Humility is one of the secrets to success.
We are given different talents, Spiritual gifts, strength, etc. We, therefore, become interdependent on each other. This helps in achieving your lofty goals even without possessing everything it takes to reach that level. Why?. Because you asked for help and someone offered you a ladder to climbed up!.
What Does The Bible Say?
Taking some biblical reference can help validate the truth behind asking and receiving. If you don’t ask—how can the next guy sitting beside you know exactly what you need in your life?. You need to trade your diseases, pains, and sorrows before you can find a lasting solution.
You can ask “anything” from God and he will do it. The Bible has said that many times to Christian believers. And it is through prayers that we present our needs to him.
Be ready at all times to knock at the door and it shall be opened. You may need these God help me prayers to present your needs to him
“Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened for you. Because everyone who keeps asking will receive, and the person who keeps searching will find, and the person who keeps knocking will have the door opened” (Matthew 7:7-8).
Whatever your challenge is; it is not above God. It is more advisable to take your problems to him before anyone else. Yes! God first. He will use the right people to solve your problems in miraculous ways. God’s angels (guardian angels) would be protecting and helping you from morning to evening and throughout the night.
You will enjoy all these spiritual benefits that manifest in flesh — because you prayed to God for help.
The real issue here is about asking for what really matters. With faith, your request would be grated. King Solomon showed contentment in what he owns by praying to God saying:
“God, I have asked you for two things— don’t refuse me before I die—Keep deception and lies far away from me, and give me neither poverty nor wealth. Feed me with food that I need for today, so that I don’t become overfed and deny you by saying, “Who is the LORD?” or so that I don’t become poor and steal, and then misuse the name of my God” (Proverbs 30:7-9).
Things To Do
Each day, try your best to ask for any kind of help that would help you better understand something; or help that will push you up to achieve something.
“Every sunrise is an invitation for us to arise and brighten someone’s day.”
—Richelle E. Goodrich
There is no shame in asking for what you dearly need. Making this part of your life is the best way of acquiring knowledge. I always tell my readers to learn new things always.
This is how you can gain experience and become proficient in life. Don’t shy away like the guy who was hungry and wouldn’t ask anyone. What happened?. He collapsed and eventually died.
