Why You Must Fear God Now And Forevermore

If God is loving and caring why should we fear him?. He is awesome, glorious and mighty. Thousands of angels worship him day and night. Your fear for God is supposed to be a ‘positive fear.’

The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom

Should Christians fear God?. Yes, of course, they should. He is mightier than anything. His love for his Children surpasses anything. In the same way, his anger surpasses anyone’s anger. The choice to feel his love is in your discretion, the choice to feel his anger is also in your discretion. His word is out there.

He that fears God needs fear nothing else; while he that, like King Saul, departs from God, finds help and comfort nowhere. Here King Saul forgot about the fear of God and consulted necromancers (Spirit medium) which are against God’s law. He became disobedient by indulging in such an abdominal act. And that is after he has failed to do God’s will on certain occasions. Don’t be like him.

Solomon the wisest man ever to live —in his old age, got liberated from the shackles of idolatry, luxury, and lust around B. C. 977. He realized that all the pleasures on earth are vanity. Therefore he concluded that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” —Ecclesiastics 12:13

In our generation today, it baffles many Christians and nonbelievers why they must fear the Lord. It doesn’t really make sense to most of them. But let us consider the two different fears.

As you find yourself reading this post, you would find out that to fear God has to be tackled in two different perspectives. And they are ‘positive fear‘ and ‘negative fear.’ God has the best of love for his Children. On the other hand, he has the most painful punishment for rebellious Children.

He will never let sin go unpunished. And as we wait for the dreadful day of the Lord —all Christians must be vigilant and worship him in truth. We are already in the end times. And there have been a lot of freaks about the return of Christ Jesus. A clear example is the ‘doomsday clock(a warning from Google).’  Something disastrous is going to happen. Don’t be part of the Devil and his angels who have already drunk from the cup of God’s anger.

“Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying in a loud voice, “Whoever worships the beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or his hand will drink the wine of God’s wrath, which has been poured undiluted into the cup of his anger. He will be tortured with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and the lamb”  (Proverbs 14:9-10).

Our Concern Today

In our 21st century, there are a number of royal thrones ruled by Kings and Queens. When you are supposed to appear before them, definitely you will feel tensed up. The King is Highly revered. Some will bow before them saying “your Majesty” or “Yes my lord.” A decree from earthly King strike fear in his subjects. Who dares challenges his authority. He is feared by all.

And this kind of love, respect and adoration are for a mere man made up of dust. How much more do you think the creator of Heaven and earth deserves?. God is the king of Kings and Lord of Lords.

“The LORD reigns. He is clothed with majesty. The LORD is armed with strength. The world also is established. It can’t be moved. Your throne is established from long ago. You are from everlasting” (Psalm 93:1-2).

The Fear Of The Lord In Scope

Obedience To God

The God we serve is a loving and caring father. He deserves our respect, obedience, praises, and worship. These are some of the things that reflect the fear of the Lord in a believer’s personality. It is a positive kind of fear that should be shown unto God.

If you fear God you will fear nothing. Because you are under his mighty hand. Be happy whiles you stay obedient and confident in the Lord.

“Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling” (Psalm 2:11).

Fearing God is not about shying away. It is about being obedient to his word. It is about letting people know God through your actions, words, and relationships.

“As the heaven is high above the earth, So great is his mercy towards them that fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.” (Psalms 103:11-12)

God’s Anger

The other side of God is about the nature of his fierce anger. He only releases his anger on disobedient people. He is fearsome than anything you could think of. God will not harm nor destroy those who fear him and do his will but the incorrigible men fond of living carnal lives.

“Who can really fathom the intensity of your anger? Your raging fury causes people to fear you. So teach us to consider our mortality, so that we might live wisely” (Psalms 90:11-12)

Things That Shows The Fear Of God – Exemplary Life

The Hebrew midwives demonstrated the fear of God

“Later, the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, one of whom was named Shiphrah and the other Puah. When you help the Hebrew women give birth,” he said, “watch them as they deliver. If it’s a son, kill him; but if it’s a daughter, let her live.” But the midwives feared God and didn’t do what the king of Egypt told them. Instead, they let the boys live. When the king of Egypt called for the midwives, he asked them, “Why have you done this and allowed the boys to live?.” “Hebrew women aren’t like Egyptian women,” the midwives replied to Pharaoh. “They’re so healthy that they give birth before the midwives arrive to help them.” God was pleased with the midwives, and the people multiplied and became very strong. Because the midwives feared God, he provided families for them.” (Exodus 1:15-21)

Through the fear of God from these midwives, God raised a leader from that generation. The mother did not listen to the decree of Pharaoh. Her son survived and led the Hebrews to the promised land. his name is Moses. He got saved from childhood death.

Abraham

Abraham feared God so much that he did everything God wanted him to do(obedience). This made God call him righteous. His faith in God was stronger to the extent of nearly sacrificing his only son for God.

In fearing the Lord you put him first above anything. Listen to your conscience anytime you want to do something. Ask yourself “Does this interests, God?” “Will God be pleased with me?”…

He is always watching us from above. He searches all heart and secret motives and rewards each other accordingly. Fear God and be blessed to live long in genuine happiness. Don’t forget to share with friends and loved ones if you find this article helpful.
