Humility in life opens up a lot of blessings on people…. be humble, value others above yourself and God will give you the reward of your meekness.
We are living in a generation where arrogance is swallowing us. It seems they know nothing about meekness and the reward attached to it. We need to learn some examples of humility in life and make it part and parcel of our daily activities.
What Are Some Notable Examples Of Humility In Life?
Let me tell you something about a few people who demonstrated humble attitudes in life.
Humility Lesson from the World’s ‘Poorest President’
There are several people in the world today who have shown an exemplary life of humility. Let’s take the president of Uruguay (Jose Mujica) for instance.
♦. He has refused to use luxury cars and other expensive assets.
♦. He drives around in “87 Volkswagon Beetle
♦. Donates 90% of his $12,000 annual salary to charity.
People call him the poorest president in the world, but he is not moved by what people say. This is a true kind of humility. Human beings must remember that we are mere dust and any moment from now we will leave everything behind.
Many have become happy and successful in life through their humble beginnings. This is because they have been blessed by God. And their good reputations aligns with the law of attraction that brings them positive energy and all the good things they need in life.
Bill Gates Gave You An Example
Is that rim? Yes! That is Bill Gates; the Microsoft founder and one of the richest persons in the world.
While I share with you some good examples of humility, I want to cite real examples like this one.
Although the emergence of Coronavirus(COVID-19) is said to be one of his grand plans of depopulating the world. Well, whether he has got a finger in that or not, it is not relevant here at the moment.
Let God take care of it!. But here is the lesson; you must clothe yourself with humility if you want to be blessed and successful in everything you do. The Bible has assured us of that!.
Let’s look at the humble lives of certain people and replicate it. This man worth billions of dollars, but one Friday night, he was captured by a Microsoft alumnus Mike Galos) joining a hamburger queue and waiting until it reaches his turn.
The said person posted it on Facebook with the following caption:
Captioning the photo, Mike Galos wrote: “When you’re worth about $100,000,000,000, run the largest charity in the history of the world and stand in line for a burger, fries, and Coke at D*ck’s like the rest of us…THIS is how real rich people behave unlike the gold toilet seat wannabe poser in the White House.”
Now you see, having a lot of money, wealth, power, influence, etc, doesn’t make you a superhuman. You are just like any normal being, why would you be boastful?. Death will one day humble all those stupid arrogant people who boast about their material wealth.
When both the rich, poor, wise, and fool dies;/they all reach 6 feet down the ground. So take the moral lesson behind such a humble approach from Mr. Gates. I seriously can’t cite examples of humility without this humble act from the Microsoft founder.
Making Use Of Words Of Humility
While the Bible expects us to be humble all the time; our society also enshrined the power and beauty of demonstrating meekness. We can see several people who teach us by showing us some of the examples of humility to follow.
It is not always about the character, but the kind of words we also use. For instance, some words send messages of love, respect, and humility. We are supposed to learn how to say “I’m sorry, ” “please” “forgive me,” etc when necessary.
There is no need to feel too big to apologize when you go wrong. Use words together with your humble behavior and God will surely exalt you above anyone.
Examples Of Humility From The Bible
Have you seen a lamb before?. This creature is humble and innocent. Due to its meekness, the Bible likes to represent a lamb as a symbol of humility.
This is why Jesus Christ, the son of God is said to be the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.
In all, when we look at a couple of examples of humility in the Bible, it proves that those who are humble are automatically blessed and placed in high positions.
It would also interest you to know that people may lose salvation in the Kingdom of God for being ruthlessly proud of themselves. Your pride can make you lose your salvation. The scriptures has therefore given us Bible verses about pride and the consequences as a reminder.
“In the same way, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another because God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” (1 Peter 5:5).
Jesus Christ made an example that you must humble yourself like a child. He cited this example to some of his disciples who were arguing about the “greatest in heaven.”
“Whoever then humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:4).
The one who is humble is the greatest in heaven so Jesus likens the greatest among men to a child.
Can you be sober like a lamb or a child? There are many blessings behind such a kind of humbleness.
The Shame Of Prudence — More Examples Of Humility
The one who is full of pride will likely find himself in shameful situations. Jesus addressed those who fail to humble themselves in public by saying this parable:
“When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, because a person more distinguished than you may have been invited by your host. So the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, ‘Give this man your place.’ Then, ashamed, you will begin to move to the least important place. But when you are invited, go and take the least important place, so that when your host approaches he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up here to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who share the meal with you. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted” (Luke 14:8-11).
The Bible Talks More Humility Examples
Some other examples of humility in life appear in the Bible Meekness is one of the most popular virtues Jesus Christ talked about.
“Better is a person of humble standing who nevertheless has a servant, than one who pretends to be somebody important yet has no food” (Proverbs 12:9).
Humility is the gateway to greatness. But today, it is unfortunate that there are millions of people who feel very pompous because of their money, fame, or power. They suppress the weak in many ways because of their money and wealth.
The worse part is to see some men of God falling into this category of arrogant people. Jose Mujica even joins queues in the hospital and people always criticize him.
He is telling the whole world, that humility is the key to greatness. Even Jesus Christ humbled himself by washing the feet of his disciples to authentic the importance of being sober; irrespective of your social status or financial level.
This is what the Book of Job says about the reward for being humble:
“When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person” (Job 22:29).
When you feel too important than others, you fall in life very quickly. Your position or wealth doesn’t guarantee you to exalt yourself above others. You are nothing but mere dust!.
” For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” (Luke 14:11).
The early preachers of the Gospel such as Paul, Job, and Jesus Christ himself gave us the best of humility lessons for us to follow.
If you really love God, you would walk in meekness and rely on him fully for all your needs. He is the only one who can place you in a higher place without any harm.
The above examples of humility must inspire you to live a life full of respect, and love. May God bless all those who humble themselves in life.
It takes the fear of God to serve a fellow friend in humility. It is God who exalts, so everyone must learn from Jesus Christ, Paul the Apostle, Job, Jose Mujica, and anyone who shows true meekness.
