Loving your enemies is one of the hardest thing in life for everyone on this earth
Today, the biblical lesson is about the reward joy of loving your enemies.Who doesn’t have enemies?. Everyone has enemies because the one and their sinless man to live on earth even got enemies so no one has to worry about having enemies in his or her life.It is normal but know how to comport yourself to avoid any negative effect on you and the people around you.
The most dangerous thing is sitting beside your enemy without knowing he is an enemy to you.There is a saying that goes like “the enemy you know is better than the Angel you don’t know”.This means some people can show up right on your face tl know that they hate you,they want your downfall the will warn you to watch out.Others too are enemies but they present themselves as angels.They will never show up right on your face but behind the scenes they would be working tirelessly just to see you fall.There are friends,family members, classmates,co-workers and other people who are close to us but are snakes in the grass.They will smile with us,do every thing with us but in their hearts are full of hatred.
Why would you even be hated by someone ?.In life whatever you do,don’t expect everyone to appreciate everything you.Haters will surely come your way but that should not bog you down. Keep on doing your own thing,forget about your enemies because your enemies are not God.They will conspire against you but if you have God by your side then he will fight for you and favour in all difficult situations. They can hate you for the way you talk,the way you walk,the way you dress,the way you interact with people, the way you are being successful in life and so on and so forth.
Your hardworking,lifestyle and progress could threaten any lazy man you wishes to be you, and since he cannot be you he would then be jealous of you.He could take any action against you even if you have done nothing wrong. As Christians we must stay calm and show love and kindness to this very person who wishes for your down fall.
When you are able to figure out who your enemy is, what would you do?.An enemy who has caused you a lot of havoc?.After finding out, surely you will get annoyed and if you are unable to control your temper you will do something regrettable. Now let us listen to what the bible says:
“But I say to you, love your enemy and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be like your Father in heaven, since he causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous”.(Matthew 5:44-45).
Loving your enemy sounds quite unreasonable to the carnal minded man.But for us Christians it is an obligation to show love and passion for everyone, including our enemies.
We must show love to our enemies because we are children of God and he showed us example by sending his son to come and die in the hands of his enemies without retaliation. The hope for our kindness to our enemies is the reward our heavenly father will bestow on us for doing his will.
“But love your enemies,and do good, and lend,expecting nothing back.Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High ,because he is kind to the ungrateful and evil people”(Luke 6:35).
When your enemy approaches you that he needs money to buy food,give it him,whatever he needs if you have it give it to him,for doing so your father in heaven would be glorified and your reward will be great. (Romans 12:20).
Imagine seeing your enemies car stacked in a gutter,you see him struggling to pull it out but he couldn’t, there is no one there to help but only you.When you help him pull his car from the gutter,he will feel ashamed,his conscience will judge him rightly,the devil will work in vain but your heavenly father would be glorified. In return,your blessings increases.
A Christian’s love and patience faces the test of obedience and righteousness when an enemy slams a door right on your face,box you on the cheek or insults you bitterly right away.It would be normal for you to get angry but don’t let the sun set on your anger,says the bible.Control your anger so that it doesn’t lead you to sin.I always keep on saying Christianity is not for sissies it takes real men to carry their cross and follow Jesus. Jesus suffered for righteousness sake.In doing so we must suffer for righteousness sake as well.There is no need of hating your enemy. Love them,pray for them for God to have mercy on them and for the Holy Spirit to change their hardened heart. How long can you dislike your enemy. Would you rejoice if you hear of his death?. I don’t think you will.Love your enemies,no matter how they treat you.Jesus said;
“To the one who strikes you on the cheek,offer the other as well,and from the person who takes away your coat do not withhold your tunic either”(Luke 6:29).
The above quote indicates how hard it is to see a true Christian, how many of us could allow ourselves to be humiliated without retaliating?.May God grant us love and patience to show love to our enemies.
I hope this post has taught you something good to help you love your enemies.If anyone incites you to hurt your enemy please don’t do it,forgive him his mistakes if he comes to you to apologies for all the wrong things he has done against you.Even if he sins against you on several occasions,still you must forgive him. Forgive and forget. The bible said something interesting about this:
“Even if he sins against you seven times a day, and seven times returns to you, saying ‘I repent’, forgive him”.(Luke 17:4).If your enemy doesn’t feel like reconciling with you,keep on showing him love.
Now you see what I am talking about.Sacrifice for your enemies for the sake of God and he will bless you abundantly.If you are a quick-tempered man and so you can’t tolerance nonsense from your enemies,the moment misunderstanding arises, just walk away to avoid any damages.Many people have failed to tolerate their enemies nonsense and have ended in prison. Let your mind and heart be free of hatred and retaliations. Love your enemies. Stay blessed.Share your thoughts with me in the comment box.
