The Bible said the spirit and the flesh constantly fight against each other. As children of God, we must strive to live by the Spirit.
“Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.” —Proverbs 25:28
A person needs to inquire about events or incidences before taking the necessary action. Here the Bible wants people, especially leaders to avoid making hasty decisions.
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.” —2 Timothy 1:7
The power has been given to each true believer to make good use of it. The Spirit is ever ready to support us in trials, and help us to do things that are lawful and right in God’s sight.

Here is a reminder not to be a slave to your own passion. Don’t be like Alexander who conquered the world as a great warrior but became a slave to intemperate anger. He ended up killing his own friends such as Clytus. He destroyed the lovely relationships he had with people even those in his inner circle. Alexander lacked self-control and it cost him a lot.
