After acknowledging this fact; there would be nothing like “doubt“, “impossibilities“, “hopelessness” and “fear.” That is if you find time for yourself to contemplate the lesson the “vision of the dry bones” tells every true Christian believer living today.

Although the Bible makes it clear that —the dried bones coming back to life was a vision given to Ezekiel. But literally, God can do that. This drives us straight to the unconditional love of God. No matter how bad you have been, no matter how sinful you have been. He is ever ready to forgive.

The dry bones vision teaches both nations and individuals who believe in God to get back to Him for restoration if they have wandered far away.

Now, let me explain to you the meaning of “the vision of the dry bones” and the willingness of God to heal and restore His wounded Children or Nation.

It offers a genuine breath of hope in us all and before I begin it all, let’s face our fears and stay positive irrespective of the challenges that crop up in our lives.

The Challenge Pinning You Down

The year is dawning, has your hopes, plans, and dreams faded out? Why? have you forgotten that God has better plans for you?

Sure, we do work hard and expect tremendous changes in our lives. Things often don’t go as planned. You may even give up on yourself and beautiful dreams, but never give up on God.

You are required to embrace yourself with unwavering faith in God. Now, you still have to stay calm by living a life full of visions. Don’t be visionless or hopeless for whatever reason. Keep aiming high. God has already Challenged us. ”

“Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?.” ( Jeremiah 32:7)

Who Is This Ezekiel That God Showed Him Visions?

Ezekiel was the son of Buzi, a prophet of the sacerdotal race. He was captured to Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar B. C. 598.

At age 13, he began his ministry. Even, in his captivity, the elders of Israel often resorted to him for directions on many occasions.

In the Book of Ezekiel, we can acknowledge several sublime visions of the divine glory of God. God used him to send his awful denunciations against Israel for their disobedience, especially their involvement in idolatry.

In the context of this post, I will also talk about the vision God gave in Ezekiel concerning the representation of Israel as dried bones that need life. This Bible lesson portrays God’s plan to restore His people after abandoning them.

It reminds us not to lose hope when everything is lost. This is why God said to be still and know that He is God. Why would you then be anxious about the future? God is already in control.

The Valley Of Dry Bones — Lesson From The Bible?

This vision came to Ezekiel when God wanted to restore His special possession (Israel) from their miserable lives because of their consistent disobedience to Him.

Obedience to God is better than anything. It leads to more blessings and favors from God. May you never be stubborn to the word of God to enjoy a prosperous life according to the riches of Christ Jesus. The dried bones vision stated in the Bible begins like this:

“The hand of the LORD was on me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of the LORD and set me down in the midst of the valley, and it was full of bones.

He caused me to pass by them all around: and look, there were very many in the open valley; and look, they were very dry.

He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I answered, “Lord GOD, you know.”

Again he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones and tell them, ‘You dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.’

Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: ‘Look, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live.

I will lay sinews on you, and will bring up flesh on you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the LORD.’”

So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and look, an earthquake; and the bones came together, bone to its bone.

I saw, and, look, there were sinews on them, and flesh came up, and skin covered them above; but there was no breath in them.

Then he said to me, “Prophecy to the wind, prophesy, son of man, and tell the wind, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: Come from the four winds, breath, and breathe on this slain, that they may live.’”

So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood up on their feet, an exceedingly great army.

Meaning Of The Valley Of Dry Bones Vision

The meaning we can derive from the dry bones Bible lesson is; there is nothing good out of a dead person or nation. Dried bones mean “death” and the only one who has power over death is God.

The Bible makes a related reference by saying:

Life brings hope verse

“For to him who is joined with all the living there is hope; for a living dog is better than a dead lion” (Ecclesiastes 9:4).

The book of Ezekiel 37 undoubtedly tells us about the unlimited power of God. all you need is FAITH TO MOVE MOUNTAINS. It is also necessary to trust in the Lord and wait in patience. Apostle Paul used to say “long-suffering.” Oh yes, it’s part of the journey of every true Christian.

Even if you are feeling unworthy, weak, and useless like dry bones, God can restore everything you have lost. He is and capable of doing the unimaginable. Take a leap of faith now.

There is nothing too late that God cannot do. Call unto Him now. He is the living Lord who gives life and power to the dead. Remember how Elisha’s bones brought a dead man back to life during the days of King Jehoash?

In the vision of Ezekiel, the dry bones represent the ruined and poor state of Israel and Judah. The revival of the dry bones indicates the Israelites’ restoration to their own land. That is, after they have gone through enslavement, and also their recovery from their present long dispersion.

Today, believers are reminded of the power of God over all problems. You have a powerful weapon but your faint faith has blinded you from utilizing it.

You need to affirm your healing, success, and happiness. God can raise the dead back to life, heal all diseases and sicknesses. Even if there is no HOPE, gaze into the sky; pray, and have faith.

Break Down Of The Vision And Its Meaning

Now, let me break down God’s plan of restoring dead Israel to life through His power.

1. God’s Unlimited Power

Verse 1 makes it clear about the possibility of God’s power giving life to dry bones. According to the vision, Israel’s condition of weariness appeared to be beyond hope (37:1-3).

2. Revival Of Israel’s Hopelessness

In verse 4, we get to know that the hopelessness of Israel is revived. Dead Israel was promised to become a living nation again. And this could be possible through the power and directives of God alone. This demonstrates God’s creative power (Verses 4-10).

3.  Unification Between Two Kingdoms

Ezekial’s demonstration of uniting two sticks symbolizes unity. The kind of division that previously existed between the southern kingdom (Judah) and the northern kingdom (Ephraim) wouldn’t exist again(verses 16-17).

4. The Coming Of The Messiah

In verse 24, the Bible, foretold the seed of David being Christ Jesus (The Messiah). That was a prophecy about Christ’s kingdom.

Finally, God is the only one who gives life to the dead. And no matter how a circumstance is; He can restore it. In Him we find hope to overcome all our life challenges. Your brokenness is nothing big for the Lord. He has a track record of lifting the poor, needy, sick, etc, from their miserable states.

The vision of dry bones reminds believers to present all their problems to Him. He has plans to give us hope and a better future.

God has already challenged you by saying:

“Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27).

A Nation Or An individual Could Be Lifeless Without God

From a Biblical standpoint, a big nation like the USA or any of the world’s superpowers could be like dried bones in the eyes of the Lord.

When we constantly do things that are detestable to God; He will stay away and watch you suffer. But if you repent from your sins and call on him for help; then miracles beyond imagination would happen. Dried bones would come back to life.

Even if you lose all your wealth, blessings, reputation, strength, etc, God will restore everything to you if you refrain from the things that are detestable to Him.

Sin is what drive God away from us. And when God is out of our lives we become like dried bones. There is no life in them. May we never allow the devil to shatter our hopes in the future.
