There is a very interesting quote in the bible in the book of Jeremiah the first chapter and the fifth verse. It says “before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations”
This quote is powerful because in essence what it means is that your birth is not an accident. Your parents might not have planed you, they might not have been trying for a baby, they might have even considered aborting you as a foetus but despite all that, God is saying that I had you in mind even though your parents might not have planed you.
You might have even been a product of a one night stand, maybe your parents were young and weren’t married when your mother got pregnant with you and your dad left and abandoned you because he wasn’t ready for the responsibility. Regardless of the circumstances that led to your birth you must realise that your life isn’t a mistake, your parents might have thought you were a mistake because the contraception they were using didn’t work but in God’s eyes you are not a mistake.
Your life is purposeful, before you were even born, God had you in mind, and not only did he have you in mind, he also packaged you with gifts, skills and abilities so that you can make a difference in your world. Going back to my initial quote above, God was telling Jeremiah that even before you were born, before your mother even knew she was pregnant, I had already set your destiny in place, I knew that you were going to be introduced to the world so I prepared a special work for you to do while you are on earth so that your life has meaning and purpose, so that you know your reason for existence and what you are supposed to do while you are on earth.
For Jeremiah, his purpose and destiny was to be a prophet, that was why God introduced him to this world, that was his reason for existence, that was why God created him. God might not have created you to be a prophet but he certainly created you for a special purpose, there is something in you that the world needs, there is something in you that only you can do because you were created and born to do it.
You have got dreams, gifts, skills, talents and abilities locked up in you, you have massive potential locked up in you, and God put those things there as tools to help you fulfill your destiny, to help you fulfill the purpose for which you were created. Never ever think to yourself that your life doesn’t matter, the fact that God allowed you to enter this world means that your existence is purposeful, you might not yet have discovered that purpose but that doesn’t mean that your life is meaningless, because you are ignorant of the purpose of your life doesn’t mean that your purpose seizes to exist, it still exists but it is waiting for the day you will discover it and the day you discover the purpose of your life is when you truly start living.
If you are right now in a place in life where you don’t know the purpose of your life and life seems to have no meaning, if you are asking yourself what is the purpose of life, why I’m I here, what was I born to do, what I’m I supposed to do in this world, what is the reason for my existence, what I’m I supposed to do with my life, does my life even matter, if any of these questions have been on your mind it is because destiny is calling. God is calling you, something within you knows that there is more, there is a void that needs to be filled, your heart knows there is more but doesn’t know how to access that purpose, but the fact that these question are crossing your mind is because your destiny is calling, your purpose is calling, calling you so you can discover and do what you were born to do.
God will allow this void in your life so that you can go on a journey to find him, he is the one that created you and he is the one that knows what he created you for and ultimately when you find him you will get answers and he will point you in the direction of your purpose and reveal to you what it is you are supposed to be doing while you are here. Until you find God your purpose will be hidden and life will continue to appear meaningless, pointless and you will continue to feel like you are just merely existing without any real purpose.
If there is one thing I want to leave you with, it is that your life does matter and God had great things in mind when he created you, he didn’t create you to suffer, he didn’t create you to struggle, he didn’t create you to just make up the numbers, he didn’t create you to be subservient, he created you purposefully, he thought about your end before he even gave you a beginning, he created you to influence and impact your world, he created you to make a difference in your generation. Your life matters, you are needed, the world needs what is in you, you have something great to offer this world but the journey begins with knowing GOD because he is the creator and the revealer of purpose. When you get to know God he will reveal to you your purpose and you will begin to find the meaning of your life.
