The human body works like a machine. Sometimes it experiences wear and tear. Our daily movement in life to earn a living sometimes brings a lot of stress and pains to us.
Today is the time to learn how to endure pain. According to Collins Dictionary; Pain is the feeling of great discomfort you have, for example when you have been hurt or when you are ill.
For you to know how to endure pain, you will need a little inspiration. This is what I want to share with you. Before you read further, get enlightened by this lovely quote from French Novelist, Colette:
“ It’s so curious: one can resist tears and ‘behave’ very well in the hardest hours of grief. But then someone makes you a friendly sign behind a window, or one notices that a flower that was in bud only yesterday has suddenly blossomed, or a letter slips from a drawer… and everything collapses.”
Pains can set in at any moment anywhere. When we are talking about how to endure pain; We should first consider the types of pains we sometimes face. Pain is good. Why?. Because it tells us that something is wrong in our bodies. There is a saying that goes like,”what doesn’t kill you make you stronger”.The strongest among us smile to their pains.
Those who learn how to endure pain hardly give up. To endure pain is not all about sweating at the gym to gain big muscles. However, the gym motto, “No pain no gain” gives a lot of inspiration to people to live successful lives.
Some of the pains are categorized below.
– Physical pain
– Emotional Pain
I will then go a little further in these type of pains.
Physical pains might be muscle cramps, headache, migraine, abdominal pains etc. Physical pains could be acute or chronic. These pains are internal, we can feel the hurt in our bodies. Sometimes these pains will show up, meanwhile, you have not done anything harmful to your body. If it becomes serious, you must see your doctor.
You did not fall, hit your head against anything but suddenly you start feeling pains. You have to adopt basic ways that will help you know how to endure that pain.
How To Endure Physical Pain
According to health experts, you can cure that physical pain by;
♦Taking Shallow breathes: Relax and take shallow breathes a couple of times. This helps to decrease tension in the body by supplying oxygen to your tissues. It helps to reduce pain by slowing down neurotransmission(the transmission of nerve impulses across a synapse). Some women make use of breathing exercise to reduce labor pains.
♦. Take a lot of water ( at least 8 glasses a day): If you experience pains such as a headache or a migraine. Experts say it is not everyone who benefits from drinking of water as a means of enduring pain. If the pain occurs as a result of or related to a fluid and electrolyte imbalance it will go.
♦. Self Distraction: If any part of your body aches. There is a simple and quick way to deal with it. Just ignore the pains by setting your mind on something else. I mean something pleasant. Here is like telling your brain to stop sending a signal of pains instead of “feel good” signals.
Here is another brilliant way of enduring pain. Let’s say you are in a restricted area, you feel like peeing, there is no washroom for you. Holding up your pee has resulted in abdominal pain and great discomfort. Practically, you can deal with such pain. Just think about sex. It will distract your brain to hold back the urine. At least for a little longer. But please if you have bladder infection don’t do it. It will spread bacteria into your body.
How To Endure Pain (Emotional)
Emotional pain could be a broken heart, depression, fear, etc. Sometimes simple insults can bring intense pain to people. Derogatory words can break down ones confidence and happiness as well.
Most people are unable to control their emotions. Such type of pains may bring about overthinking leading to psychological defects which are very dangerous.
Emotions are a strong part of human feelings. To fall in deep emotional trouble is very bad. A typical example is seeing your favorite football team lose in a crucial match. It hurts right?.
That pain can make you feel uncomfortable. You might not eat for the whole day. That is an emotional breakdown. Don’t worry. Let me suggest one best way to deal with such emotional pain.
Find something that is very amusing or funny. Just look out for something that will make you laugh. Laughter is a natural medicine to emotional pain. I recommend watching funny clips of Charlie Chaplin. People who have watched his videos will agree with me if I call him “King of Comedy“.
You can go to YouTube and get his funny clips. This will ease your emotional pain. There are many other funny clips you can watch to laugh till you your ribs break. When laughter is on your lips, there is nothing like emotional pain. This very trick can help you endure physical pain as well.
In addition, you can bring into memory any funny thing that makes you laugh. It is all about stimulating your “feel good hormones”.
